Meet the Independent Dental Hygienist

Hi. My name is Althea Ledgister, and I am the owner and operator of Spotlight Dental Hygiene.  I started my dental career working as a dental assistant before enrolling in, and graduating with honours from, the dental hygiene program at George Brown College in 2004.  

The past twenty years that I have spent as a hygienist in general dental and orthodontic practices has given me the opportunity to improve the oral health and well-being of so many people and the joy of knowing that I gave them a reason to smile. Those years of listening to patients share what they value most regarding their dental care needs, led me to the decision to move to a space where I could provide those things, independent of a dental office. 

As of August 2024, I am dedicating my time to providing direct-access dental hygiene services in a dental hygiene clinic, where high-quality care focused on patient needs is the priority. Your time and your choice of dental hygiene care provider deserves to be respected. When you book your appointment, you know exactly who your hygienist will be and you won't be switched to someone else.  Appropriate time is booked for your appointment.   There is no dentist on site, so you will not be kept waiting before or after your hygiene visit.  Your appointment is all about your needs and the focus will be on you.

Evening and Saturday appointments are available for preventive care and cosmetic enhancements like teeth whitening and tooth gems.

I am happy I am able to make smiles brighter and promote better oral health at my new location.
